Research Project: Semantic Mapping

About

Gabe Slade is a Masters Student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department with an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as a minor in Computer Science (graduated April 2025). He joined the FRoSt Lab in May 2025.

From Rye, Colorado, Gabe enjoys sports, reading, playing piano, and spending time with his wife. He also enjoys working on personal engineering projects involving 3D Printing, mechatronics, and model design. Gabe is interested in simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) and control theory for robot vehicles. He has the goal of working for a company that designs autonomous robots.

Research

Gabe's research is focused on semantic mapping of coastal areas to assist above water surface vessels in localization.
